CANACONA- Bhandari Samaj Committee of Canacona Taluka on Sunday organized a special Van-Mahotsav at Chapoli Forests, near the Chapoli Dam Site, where a fire devastated the forests, causing tremendous environmental loss last month.
The members of Bhandari Samaj decided to organize a special Van-Mahotsav at this particular site to recover some damage done to Mother Earth & to protect the environment of Canacona Taluka. Around 150 trees were planted during the Van-Mahotsav by Bhandari Samaj Committee-Canacona to partially recover the loss caused to Mother Nature in the fiery inferno.
Last month a forest fire erupted on the hills of Chapoli just above the Chapoli Dam, where many rare, precious trees were destroyed due to intensive fire and irrepressible damage was caused to flora and fauna as well due to the fire.
Yuva Bhandari Committee-Canacona Incharge and Chief Guest of the Special Van Mahotsav Vaibhav Naik, appreciated the Van Mahotsav at this time, just on the eve of the arrival of monsoon rains, saying there is indeed a need for more and more and congratulated Bhandari members for taking the lead and taking this positive step without bothering who will ripe the benefits of these trees, but expects the benefits will be passed on to the whole of Canconkars in the future.’
Mr. Vaibhav Naik, In-Charge of, appreciated the Van Mahotsav organized at this special place where need of planting trees are more pressing & also congratulate Bhandari members for taking this positive step of planting trees without bothering who will ripe the benefits of these trees & said whole Canconkars will get benefit of it in the future. He also said that it is a pleasant sight to see members of the Main Committee and Yuva Committee are working together sincerely to do the noble task at hand.
President of Bhandari Samaj of Canacona Sachin Naik and other members were present. They also guided the members present for the Tree Plantation Drive.
O nthe sidelines of this function, meritorious students from Bhandari Community of Canacona taluka were felicitated and scholarships were presented to them. Many students and their parents also participated in this van-mahotsav programme.
Mallikesh Bhandari, Nitesh Naik, Rajay Bhandari, Nandkishore Naik, Jagdish Bhandari, Prasad Naik, Prakash Bhandari, Dinesh Naik, Kumari Shravani Pednekar and other members were present for this Van-Mahotsav and took part in tree plantation.
Tushar Naik, Secretary and Abhishek Naik, Treasurer of Yuva Bhandari Committee welcomed the guests. The entire programme was compared and vote of thanks was given by Yashwant Naik, President of Bhandari Committee. The Members of the Bhandari Committee-Canacona also vowed to take such initiatives in future for the betterment of Canacona and society in general.
