PONDA: Bhartiya Kisan Sang (BKS) Goa Chief Shrirang Zamble, Ponda Taluka President Sanjeev Zamble, and other farmers staged dharnas at Krantimaidan Ponda.
Shriram Zamble addressing to media today said that the farmers in the country are staging agitation against Central Government’s three farm bills introduced in September 2020.
He said for a long time that BKS favours demand for minimum support price to farmers which they are not getting for their produce and that farmers facing losses.
He also said that on 8 September, at every District, the BKS has planned dharnas and would submit a memorandum of their demand to the District Collector.
He said when the Central Government issued an ordinance in June 2020 concerning these bills, the BKS has given suggestions in the interest of farmers and met Union Agriculture Minister and submitted a memorandum of farmers demand.
Besides, this memorandum was submitted to PM Narendra Modi from around 25000 villages, but the Central government did not take cognizance of it.
As against this government held several rounds of talks with farmers, nothing happened from it in the interest of farmers. The PM office had also not taken cognizance of the letter submitted by BKS on 12 August. Hence to get minimum support price and justice to farmers, the Nationwide agitation is planned.
