Curtorim: Curtorim witnessed an electrifying football finale on Sunday as Bhatti SC lifted the Silver Jubilee Cup 2025, defeating Agxem SC 5-3 in a fiercely contested 9-a-side interward football tournament organized by Sporting Club of Virabhat at the St. Alex Church ground. The grand finale, played before a large weekend crowd, opened with Agxem SC drawing first blood in the 10th minute through a neat finish by Jovel Martins. Bhatti SC quickly responded, with Ralf Dias equalising in the 18th minute, ending the first half locked at 1-1. The second half saw Bhatti SC assert their dominance. Tony Dias scored in the 40th minute to make it 2-1, and just five minutes later, Ralf Dias netted his second of the game to extend the lead to 3-1. Despite Agxem SC’s best efforts to stage a comeback, Bhatti’s rock-solid defense, led by Aaron Dias, ensured they held onto their advantage until the final whistle.
The post-match prize distribution was graced by Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginald Lourenco, who was the chief guest, along with several other dignitaries including Rui Menezes, Caetano Hilario, PI Filomena Costa, Adv Coleman Rodrigues, Arnaldo Costa, Conceicao Dias, Remedias Mascarenhas, Inacio Noronha, Alex Dias, Terencio Fernandes, and patron members of Sporting Club Virabhat. Individual honours were awarded as follows: Jovel Martins (Agxem SC) won the First Scorer award; Michael Paes (Agxem SC) was named Best Midfielder of the Final; Ralf Dias (Bhatti SC) earned the Man of the Match and Best Striker titles; Tony Dias (Bhatti SC) bagged the Highest Scorer of the Tournament; Perry Dias (Bhatti SC) was adjudged Best Goalkeeper of the Final; Aaron Dias (Bhatti SC) took home Best Defender of the Final; Venson Paes (SC Virabhat) was named Best Midfielder of the Tournament; Vivon Fernandes (SC Virabhat) was recognised as the Promising Player of the Tournament; and Batora United was awarded the Best Disciplined Team title. The tournament concluded on a celebratory note, marking a successful and spirited showcase of local football talent and community camaraderie.
