BHOMA: Social activist Sanjay Naik of Bhoma today has strongly slammed Priol MLA Govind Gaude, accusing him of indulging in political opportunism by opposing the Bhoma Bypass Road only with the Zilla Panchayat elections around the corner.
Naik was reacting to Gaude’s statement, “I will be the first one to halt Bhoma road widening if a JCB touches any house compound.”
He alleged that the statement was aimed at gaining political mileage rather than addressing the long-standing concerns of Bhoma villagers.
“For the past three-and-a-half years, we have been opposing the bypass road, but our MLA was nowhere to be seen. No support, no intervention, nothing,” Naik said, questioning Gaude’s sudden show of concern.
Slamming all political parties, Naik said they think only of themselves and not of Goa, adding that the so-called “great alliance” has failed and broken the trust of Goan people.
“Only Goans can save Goa for Goans. Political parties have failed us,” he said.
He further warned that villagers will not be misled by last-minute assurances and reiterated that the agitation against the Bhoma Bypass Road is to protect homes, land and the environment.
Naik appealed to Goans to unite beyond party lines to safeguard Goa, which he said is “almost finished.”
