BICHOLIM: Taking a step towards youth-focused and community-driven development, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane inaugurated a futsal ground in Bicholim, launched the UAAM initiative, and laid the foundation stone for a new open public space in the constituency.
The programme was held in the presence of Bicholim MLA Chandrakant Shetye and Brijesh Manerkar, Director of Goa State Urban Development Agency, marking what officials described as another step towards building stronger community infrastructure.
Speaking on the occasion, Rane said the initiative reflects a collective commitment to creating spaces that empower youth and strengthen communities. “The Bicholim Futsal Ground is not just a sporting facility, but a platform for our youth to dream, compete and excel. Through UAAM and the development of open public spaces, we are ensuring inclusive growth that engages young minds and promotes community participation,” he said.
Quoting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rane noted that empowering youth remains central to nation-building and emphasised that sports infrastructure plays a key role in nurturing talent. He added that the initiatives align with the broader vision of creating opportunities for young people while improving public amenities.
Rane further stated that the development of open public spaces will ensure accessible recreational areas for residents, while UAAM will focus on engaging youth as partners in development. He said such projects are aimed at strengthening grassroots participation and fostering a healthier, more active society.
The minister reiterated the government’s commitment to building a “Viksit Goa” in line with the vision of a “Viksit Bharat,” ensuring that infrastructure, opportunity and development reach every corner of the state.
