BICHOLIM: In a major breakthrough, Bicholim Police have arrested the main conspirator, identified as Kallesh, a native of Karnataka, in connection with the shocking murder of a two-and-a-half-year-old girl.
Earlier, the victim’s mother Nagamma and her live-in partner Nithin Kumara were arrested for their involvement in the case. During interrogation, both accused revealed that Kallesh had visited their rented room in Bicholim and that he and Nagamma were in a separate relationship. Nagamma reportedly wanted to marry Kallesh, but he allegedly refused to accept her with a child and instigated her to kill the girl.
Police said that Nagamma confessed to committing the murder of her minor daughter under the instigation of Kallesh, who had promised to take her to Bengaluru and marry her. Acting on the conspiracy hatched between them, Nagamma allegedly smothered the child to death and later handed over the lifeless body to Nithin Kumara to make it appear as though he had committed the crime.
Investigation further revealed that Nagamma had earlier eloped from Chikmagalur, Karnataka, with Nithin Kumara, but when he refused to marry her, Kallesh — a mutual friend — agreed to marry her and conspired in the murder of the minor girl.
Bicholim Police described Kallesh’s arrest as a crucial step in unravelling the full conspiracy behind the heinous crime.
