PONDA: Bike rider Manjunath Hemar (40), basically from Karnataka and presently residing in Goa, was seriously injured in a Car and bike accident at Dhatwada Usgao at 7.30 am today.
The Maharashtra-based car driver was proceeding towards Ponda from Usgao while the bike rider was toward Usgao, and when it reached Dhatwada near the petrol pump, the Car dashed the bike rider from the wrong side (right-hand side).
The Bike rider received serious body injuries, a head injury and a fracture on the leg without any fault.
He was shifted to SDH and then to GMC.
Locals Vasudev Gaude said this is the sixth accident near a petrol pump. He said the government need to adopt safety measures to slow down speed as some times vehicles suddenly turn left or right side to proceed towards petrol pump filling fuel in their vehicles.
