Mapusa: The Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), Mapusa, today extended the police custody of Ajay Gupta by five days in connection with the Birch fire case.
Gupta was produced before the court by the Mapusa police, who sought further custodial interrogation as part of the ongoing investigation.
The court allowed the request and remanded the accused to police custody for an additional five days.
During the hearing, Gupta informed the court that he would cooperate with the investigation.
Ajay Gupta was arrested by the Mapusa police for allegedly forging documents to obtain an excise licence for Birch, Romeo Lane.
Police said the investigation is continuing to ascertain the full extent of the alleged forgery and to identify any other persons involved in the case.
