MAPUSA: A day after the High Court of Bombay at Goa rejected his anticipatory bail application, the disqualified Sarpanch of Village Panchayat Arpora-Nagoa, Roshan Redkar, surrendered before the court in connection with the Birch fire case.
Redkar’s surrender comes amid an ongoing investigation into the fire incident, which has attracted considerable legal and public attention.
Following the High Court’s refusal to grant him pre-arrest protection, police had intensified efforts to secure his presence before the court.
Meanwhile, the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), Mapusa, has extended the police custody of terminated Arpora Panchayat Secretary Raghuvir Bagkar by a further seven days in the same case.
Bagkar is being questioned as part of the investigation into the circumstances leading to the Birch fire.
Police sources said the probe is continuing on multiple aspects of the case, and further action will be taken based on the outcome of the ongoing investigation.
