PANAJI: The Bombay High Court at Goa has rejected the anticipatory bail application filed by Roshan Redkar, the disqualified Sarpanch of the Village Panchayat of Arpora–Nagoa, in connection with the Birch fire case.
With the rejection of the plea, Redkar no longer enjoys any pre-arrest protection. The High Court observed the seriousness of the allegations and the need for an unhindered investigation while declining relief to the accused.
According to Anjuna Police, Roshan Redkar is currently absconding. Police officials said that teams have been formed and efforts are underway to trace and arrest him at the earliest.
The case pertains to a fire incident at Birch, which had drawn public attention and prompted the registration of a criminal case by the Anjuna Police. Investigators are probing Redkar’s alleged role in the incident and are collecting evidence to establish the sequence of events.
