CALANGUTE: In a swift and coordinated operation, Goa Police have successfully rescued three minor girls and arrested two men on charges of abduction and sexual abuse.
The incident came to light on June 8, 2025, when two separate missing complaints were filed at Agacaim Police Station, leading to an immediate and extensive search operation.
The alarm was first raised by a father, whose two minor daughters, aged 15 and 13, had not returned home since June 7. Shortly after, another resident, whose 11-year-old daughter was also missing from the same date, reported suspicions that her child might have accompanied the other two girls.
Acting on the received information, a dedicated police team was swiftly formed, comprising PSI Rushikesh Raikar, PC-8027 Raju Attar, and LPC-8610 Suvarna Narve. Through meticulous efforts, leveraging both reliable human intelligence and technical sources, the team successfully located all three minor victims at a hotel in Calangute on the same day, June 8, 2025.
Two male individuals found in the girls’ company were immediately apprehended and brought to the Police Station for questioning. Investigations at the hotel revealed that the accused had checked into two different rooms.
Following their rescue, the three minor girls were referred to the Victim Assistance Unit in Bambolim to record their statements. It was through these statements that a more disturbing aspect of the case emerged: two of the victim girls had been sexually abused in the hotel rooms.
Based on the victims’ harrowing accounts, two separate offenses were registered at Agacaim Police Station.
The first case, Agacaim PS Cr. No. 30/2025, has been filed under sections of the recently enacted Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Specifically, sections 137(2) (related to kidnapping from lawful guardianship), 64(1) (punishment for rape), 74 (sexual assault), and 75(1) (aggravated sexual assault) of the BNS, along with Section 8(2) of the Goa Children’s Act 2005 and Sections 4, 8, and 12 of the POCSO Act, have been invoked.
A second case, Agacaim PS Cr. No. 31/2025, was registered under BNS Sections 137(2), 64(1), 74, Section 8(2) of the Goa Children’s Act 2005, and Sections 4, 8, and 12 of the POCSO Act.
During the ongoing investigation, the two accused persons, identified as Altaf S/o Mehboob Mujawar (19) from Alto Porvorim, Bardez, Goa (originally from Hubli, Karnataka), and Om S/o Vinay Naik (21) from Housing Board Colony, Porvorim, Bardez, Goa, have been formally arrested.
