SAVOI-VEREN: A bison attack at Khamini Donger, near Bonyewada-Savoi Verem, left one resident seriously injured and another with minor wounds. Dharma Girodkar was critically injured while working at his cashew plantation and has been shifted to Goa Medical College (GMC) for advanced treatment. Dinu Girodkar, who was with him at the time, sustained minor injuries and is reported to be stable.
In response to the incident, local MLA Govind Gaude expressed concern over the increasing presence of wild animals in inhabited areas. “Due to deforestation, herds of bison are now entering villages. We must understand that animals meant to live in the forest should not be forced out of their natural habitat,” he said.
Gaude assured that he would be holding discussions with forest department officials to address the issue and explore preventive measures. He also extended his wishes for a speedy recovery to the injured residents and urged all farmers to stay vigilant and take necessary safety precautions while working in remote or forest-adjacent areas.
