Panaji: The shocking revelations made by the Dean of Goa Medical College that there is no ‘Intensivist’ to manage the Intensive Care Unit of the GMC Hospital is a clear indication that the most corrupt, insensitive and irresponsible BJP Government headed by defective Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant is continuing to play with the lives of the people, even after hundreds innocent Covid patients died due to lack of Oxygen, charged Congress President Girish Chodankar.
“It is shocking that this corrupt BJP Government has kept on hold the commissioning of Oxygen Plant at the GMC Complex in Bambolim due to differences in settlement of commission between the Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant and the Health Minister Vishwajit Rane. I have information from reliable sources that there is also a dispute on purchase of Compressor for the said Oxygen Treatment Plant (OTP) between the Chief Minister and the Health Minister again on the issue of the share of huge kickback,” stated Girish Chodankar.
He demanded that the Chief Minister must explain why the Oxygen Plant is not made operational on 15th May 2021 as announced by him on 25th April 2021.
“The fortune making agenda of the Ministers as well as the Party functionaries has ruined the Administrative Setup in the State. BJP is busy making money doing “Business from Sickness”. The misplaced priorities of the BJP Government have resulted in death of hundreds of innocent patients,” he said.
Chodankar said that it is unimaginable that the BJP Government is not ready to get on-board an Intensivist as the Government is not in a position to meet his/her Salary demands.
“This Government has 10 to 15 Crores to spend on the Memorial of former CM late Manohar Parrikar but has no will to spend the money providing best Health Care to the people of Goa. There is inadequate strength of Doctors in GMC but Government is not taking any steps to recruit Expert Doctors. This Government wants to sell each and every job in Goa,” stated Girish Chodankar.
He said the corrupt Health Minister is completely silent on the purchase and distribution of Ivermectin Tablets as Prophylaxis treatment to the Covid patients. He has not given any clarification on the sub-standard items including Oxymeters provided in the Home Isolation kit given to the Covid patients.
This proves that his silence is vindication of our stand that there is gross corruption in the Health Department, Chodankar said.
“We demand that the Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant must immediately make public the report of the Committee constituted by the Government on the Oxygen Supply and Management to GMC after the unfortunate deaths of the patients due to lack of Oxygen,” he stated.
“We want to warn the BJP Government not to play with the health and emotions of the people. We demand that Government must stop the expenditure on non-priority works and completely focus on providing best Health Care Facilities to the people of Goa,” he said.
