PANJIM: The BJP Government which is famous for sloganeering has once again proved of its insensitive approach towards the Common Man by annoucing 50% rebate in fixed tariff in power bills for domestic consumers.
The annoucement made by the Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant is actually rubbing the salt on the wounds of the people charged GPCC General Secretary Amarnath Panjikar at a press conference in Congress House today. He said time has come to send the Suit-Boot government home.
He was accompanied by former Calangute MLA Agnelo Fernandes, Bicholim Block Congress President Meghashyam Raut and Congress Social Media Incharge Pratibha Borkar.
The Government has no right to blame the people for consuming more power when the Prime Minister had launched a Fake Campaign of “Diyaa Jalavo” to defeat Corona some months back and the local BJP president had asked people to illuminate their houses on Shree Ram Temple foundation stone laying ceremony day with an intention of glorifying Narendra Modi and not Shree Ram.
The rebate given in fixed tariff is so negligible that people will not even get 2% concession from their total bill amount claimed Amarnath Panjikar.
The Goans must realise that the BJP is using the people and their resources only for gaining political advantage. They have now completely disowned the people and their problems said Amarnath Panjikar.
The Chief Minister came under pressure after the Speak Up for Goa digital campaign launched by Congress Party received overwhelming response yesterday with people from all across the State uploading their videos raising voice against huge power bills and demanding relief. We strongly condemn the annoucement made by the Chief Minister and demand that 50% rebate on the bill amount should be given to all the consumers.
The Congress party in a written memorandum had suggested four opitions to the Government 1. The department must issue fresh bills waiving off 2 months consumption charges or 2. Announce 50% discount on the bills issued. 3. The government can explore the third option of charging power consumption bill as per February 2020 bill amount.
4. We want to also suggest that Government can waive off all bills with consumption charges upto Rs. 5,000 and for higher consumption charges above Rs. 5,000 give 50% off. We will not accept anything less than the four options given said Amarnath Panjikar.
The BJP government will end up with the same fate as that of Queen of France Mary Antonette who once advised people to “Eat Cake if they dont have Bread”. The Government has sent huge bills to Hotel Owners even for the period of lockdown when the hotels were closed. Even other businesses are also suffering a lot in Covid times stated Agnelo Fernandes.
Congress Party will be forced to relaunch the agitation if the government refuse to accept the requets made by thousands of Goans. This time we will compelled to have bigger protest with thousands of people from all across the State warned Amarnath Panjikar.
