New Delhi: Following the Supreme Court’s sharp remarks against Rahul Gandhi over his past comments on the Indian Army, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a blistering attack on the Congress leader, calling him a “certified anti-national” and accusing him of working to “weaken India and strengthen China.”
The Supreme Court on Monday stayed proceedings against Gandhi in a Lucknow court regarding his 2022 Bharat Jodo Yatra remarks, but censured him, saying that if he is a true Indian, he wouldn’t make such statements about the Army.
Citing the apex court’s observations, BJP leaders intensified their offensive, accusing Gandhi of repeatedly disrespecting India’s armed forces and aligning with foreign interests.
Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan took to X (formerly Twitter), stating that it was unprecedented in parliamentary history for the Supreme Court to issue such a “stern” remark against the Leader of the Opposition.
“Rahul Gandhi and Congress have a history of insulting the army — whether it was the surgical strikes or Operation Sindoor. They have questioned the sacrifices of our brave soldiers at every turn,” Pradhan wrote. He added that the Congress party’s loyalty lies not with the nation but with “one family.”
“The nation is hurt by this anti-national mindset. Rahul Gandhi and Congress must apologise,” Pradhan said.
At a press conference, BJP national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia said Gandhi’s repeated “immature and anti-India” comments have become a pattern. “Today, when the Supreme Court has commented, it is not wrong to say that Rahul Gandhi is working to weaken India and strengthen China,” he said.
Bhatia also displayed a purported photo of Rahul Gandhi signing a document in the presence of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Sonia Gandhi, claiming it was from a secret party-to-party memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed with the Communist Party of China.
“They never tell the people what was in that MoU. That’s why Rahul says Indian soldiers were thrashed by Chinese troops during Doklam and Galwan. While the entire nation stood with our jawans, he stood with China,” Bhatia alleged.
He also accused Gandhi of being “remote-controlled by foreign forces” and claimed that Gandhi’s credibility has now fallen to “zero.”
BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya joined the chorus, calling Rahul Gandhi “China Guru” and alleging that his statements endangered India’s national security.
“The Supreme Court has once again reprimanded Rahul Gandhi for making irresponsible statements on national security and territorial integrity,” Malviya posted on X. “He is now a certified anti-national.”
Malviya also criticized Gandhi’s recent claim that India’s economy is “dead,” calling the remark a “diplomatic disaster.” He accused Gandhi of indirectly endorsing Pakistan’s economy while undermining India’s global standing.
BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla echoed the sentiment, saying that “insulting the Army is Congress’s identity.”
“Rahul and Congress hate the Indian Armed Forces. Today, the Supreme Court has slammed him,” Poonawalla wrote on X.
Another BJP spokesperson, Pradeep Bhandari, highlighted the court’s question: “How did you know China had occupied Indian territory?” Bhandari claimed the query exposes Gandhi’s lack of credibility and revives concerns about the Congress party’s undisclosed MoU with China.
“Rahul Gandhi is operating under the remote control of foreign forces,” he alleged.
Rahul Gandhi’s controversial remarks about the Indian Army — made during the December 2022 leg of his Bharat Jodo Yatra — had sparked widespread outrage and led to legal proceedings. While the Supreme Court has now halted those proceedings, its strong observations have reignited political hostilities.
As the row deepens, the BJP continues to paint Gandhi as a leader who undermines India’s military, economy, and global image — while the Congress has yet to respond to the latest barrage of accusations.
