PANAJI: A day after former minister and BJP MLA Govind Gaude launched a sharp criticism of the party’s State President, the ruling BJP responded, firmly denouncing his statements.
Speaking at a press conference held at the party’s headquarters, Vasco MLA and BJP chief spokesperson Daji Salkar urged party legislators to show restraint when making public comments.
“An MLA must think multiple times before levelling allegations against the State President of a national party like the BJP,” Salkar said.
He emphasized that no individual holds more importance than the organisation. “The BJP has always taken firm action against those who damage the party’s image,” he added.
Gaude, who was recently removed from the Goa Cabinet, had stated on Sunday during a public meeting that he would not resign from the BJP nor withdraw his support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Viksit Bharat 2047 initiative.
He also alleged that he was sidelined for “speaking the truth,” referring to media reports that, he claimed, misrepresented his speech from May 25. That controversy is widely seen as a factor in his ouster from the Cabinet.
