PANAJI: Marking the BJP’s 46th Sthapana Diwas, Goa BJP President Damodar Naik on Monday highlighted the party’s growth into “an inspiration for crores of people” and expressed strong confidence of a decisive victory in the upcoming Ponda by-election.
Speaking after hoisting the party flag at the BJP headquarters in Panaji, Naik traced the party’s journey from the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, founded in 1951, to the formation of the BJP in 1980. “Today, the BJP is no longer limited to just one or two MPs; it has become an inspiration for crores of people,” he said.
Shifting focus to the Ponda bypoll, Naik asserted that the party is treating it with the same seriousness as a full Assembly election. “There is no difference between the Ponda by-election and the Assembly election—an election is an election,” he said, expressing confidence that the BJP will win by a margin of over 3,500 votes.
Naik said the party paid tributes to its ideological leaders, including Shyama Prasad Mukherjee and Deendayal Upadhyaya, while honouring the sacrifices of grassroots workers. “From the days of Atal Bihari Vajpayee to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, this journey has been shaped by the dedication and sacrifices of karyakartas,” he said.
Emphasising the party’s ideology, Naik reiterated BJP’s commitment to the principle of Antyodaya and noted its massive organisational strength, with over 15 crore digital members and more than 2 crore active members across the country.
Referring to the vision of a developed India by 2047, he said the push for an Atmanirbhar Bharat under Prime Minister Narendra Modi aligns with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant’s vision of a Swayampurna Goa.
Calling on people to strengthen the organisation, Naik said, “I urge all countrymen to join hands and work tirelessly to fulfil our national resolve.”
The BJP leadership and karyakartas across Goa marked the foundation day with celebrations, while gearing up for the crucial Ponda bypoll, which the party sees as a key political test ahead of future electoral battles.
