PANAJI: Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has predicted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will establish its governments in Kerala and Tamil Nadu within the next ten years.
During a speech at the party’s foundation day event in Panaji, Sawant paid tribute to the late former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, praising his contributions to India. The gathering, titled “Atal Smruti,” celebrated Vajpayee’s enduring influence on the country’s growth.
Sawant highlighted the key achievements of Vajpayee’s tenure, particularly India’s nuclear tests, which showcased the country’s capability as a global power. “Under Vajpayee, India proved to the world that it had the ability to conduct nuclear tests,” Sawant remarked.
The Chief Minister also acknowledged Vajpayee’s pivotal role in the mobile phone revolution, noting that his leadership brought mobile connectivity to every corner of India. “Vajpayee was instrumental in the mobile revolution, making phones accessible nationwide,” Sawant said.
Sawant further recalled Vajpayee’s foresight, recalling how the late leader had predicted that the BJP would return to power despite its 2004 electoral defeat. He had foreseen the party ruling India for the next 25 years, a vision Sawant described as that of a “visionary leader.”
Looking ahead, Sawant stated that while the BJP does not currently govern Kerala or Tamil Nadu, the party is on track to form governments in these states within the next decade. “The groundwork laid by leaders like Vajpayee and L.K. Advani is now beginning to bear fruit,” he concluded, noting that party workers still draw inspiration from those early days.
