CANACONA: Reacting strongly to Opposition (Congress-led INDIA) claims that they will garner most of the 70% of votes who have voted against BJP candidate in last Assembly elections, Canacona MLA /Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar (who polled only 30% of polled votes and won), said, the results of votes polled in Lok Sabha polls in Canacona segment will give befitting reply to the congress led I.N.D.I.Alliance taunts directed at him (Tawadkar).
“This time in Canacona, I will bring 90% of Hindu votes to BJP candidate,” Tawadkar declared at the corner meeting held at Rajbhag-Tarir.
Tawadkar was speaking at a corner meeting held at Rajbagh (Canacona) to campaign for BJP’s South Goa candidate Pallavi Dhempo on Monday. On the sidelines, Tawadkar along with BJP’s South-Goa candidate Pallavi Dempo, addressed 8 Corner meetings in the Canacona constituency out of which four(4) meetings were held in Temple’s Sabhagruha, while the remaining four were organized in public places such as Sanskruti Bhavan and Panchayat areas.
In the last assembly elections, Ramesh Tawadkar who had won comfortably, but by securing only (9063 votes), which is just 30 per cent of the votes polled. While, 70 per cent of the polled votes were received by the candidates of the opposition party including Congress, TMC, AAP, RGP and three Independents including two candidates Ex-Minister Isidore Fernandes and Ex-Canacona MLA Vijay Poi Khot.
In a joint press conference addressed by I.N.D.I. Alliance, recently, GFP General Secretary Prashant Naik, has claimed that all opposition candidates of the 2022 Assembly elections have come together for Lok sabha polls, and will attempt to garner above the 70% of voters who have voted against BJP’s official candidate in the last assembly elections, which elections eventually winning BJP got just 30% of the polled votes. INDIA has, however, refused to figure out the winning margin in Canacona, but decisively targeted a safe lead top Capt Viriato Fernandes.
Reacting strongly, Tawdkar said, ‘Prashant Naik will get the answer in his own booth in Maxem. I will show Prashant Naik by getting 70% of votes for BJP in the Maxem booth. Besides, I have full confidence that BJP will get 90% of Hindu votes in Canacona and no one can deny that.’ Interestingly, Tawadkar has assured 10,000 votes lead to BJP’s candidate Pallavi Dempo in the Canacona assembly segment. Congress and the opposition’s dream of defeating Ramesh Tawadkar by giving only 30 per cent of the votes (which BJP polled in the last assembly elections) will remain only a dream for them. My Karyakarta will reply to all opposition parties when the votes will be counted for Lok Sabha polls.
Speaking further, Tawadkar said, ‘Bharatiya Janata Party has proved that only BJP can do development and if in the past Congress had raised at least one pillar of development during their government’s tenure, by now Goa would have developed a lot. But they could not do anything for the State nor to Canacona’,
Dempo in her speech said, ‘I have been in social service for the past 26 years and the Dempo family has done various types of work in Goa for the last 60 years. Three Higher Secondary Schools, Two Colleges, A Football Team, Dhempo Vishwagram School, and various Scholarships are awarded by Dempo. Balaram Education Institute in Canacona has also benefited from Dempo in the past.’
Ramakant Naik Gaonkar expressed the belief that the BJP candidate will be elected by a large margin.
Also, present and spoke were Canaocna BJP Mandal President Vishal Desai, Mahila Morcha President Vinda Satarkar, ZP(Khola) Shanu Velip and others were present on the platform.
Opposition councillors of Canacona municipality who were recently romped –in by BJP Dheeraj Naik Gaonkar, Shubham Komarpant, Neetu Desai and Supriya Desai and Ex-CMC Chairperson Ranganath Naik Gaonkar were also present.
