CANACONA: The BJP formally kicked off its campaign in the Poinguinim Zilla Panchayat constituency, with Minister for Sports, Tribal Welfare and Arts & Culture Ramesh Tawadkar inaugurating the campaign office of the party’s ZP candidate Ajay (Ajit) Lolienkar at Poinguinim Bazaar.
Earlier in the day, Lolienkar submitted his nomination papers before the Returning Officer at Chaudi. Following the filing, Minister Tawadkar, along with a large BJP entourage, proceeded to Poinguinim where he cut the ribbon to declare open the centrally located campaign office.
Poinguinim, once the headquarters of the now-defunct 40th Assembly segment, continues to remain the focal point of the Zilla Panchayat constituency (Poinguinim–23). Party leaders said the office will act as a hub for karyakartas to plan campaign strategies and coordinate outreach across the four village panchayats — Poinguinim, Loliem-Polem, Khotigao and Gaondongrim.
Addressing party workers, Lolienkar assured full cooperation in planning and executing campaign decisions. “We will work to win the people, not earn wealth for ourselves,” he said.
The event saw the presence of Loliem-Polem Sarpanch Nisha Chari, Deputy Sarpanch Ashutosh Bandekar, Chandrakant Sudhir, Poinguinim Sarpanch Savita Tawadkar, Deputy Sarpanch Sunil Paingankar, Panch Satish Lolienkar, BJP Canacona Mandal President Prabhakar Gaonkar and several karyakartas.
