MOPA: Passengers and taxi operators are facing continued difficulties as the Blue Cap taxi counters at the Manohar International Airport, Mopa, have remained non-functional for the past two months. The closure is reportedly linked to the absence of security clearance within the GMR-managed airport premises.
Although the official counters are shut, Blue Cap taxis continue to pick up passengers outside the airport premises, operating informally without designated support infrastructure. This has led to growing frustration among travelers and drivers alike.
In a press briefing, representatives of the taxi business expressed concern over the prolonged closure, demanding the reopening of counters within 48 hours. They warned that failure to act would compel them to initiate protest measures.
Operators emphasized the urgent need for a regulated and secure facility within the airport to ensure orderly and efficient taxi services for arriving passengers.
