CANACONA – Giving an inspirational quote “Trees are poems that the earth writes upon the sky”, BMC Shrishthal called upon school children to plant more and more trees and help clean the environment degraded by pollution.
Government High School, Shristhal celebrated the annual Vanamahosthav festival in coordination with Biodiversity Management Committee, V. P. Shristhal, Canacona Goa filling with enthusiastic vigour on Thursday.
BMC Shrishthal Chairman Vinay Tubki explained to the students the importance of trees in contributing to the environment by providing oxygen, improving air quality, conserving water, preserving soil, supporting wildlife and providing shelter, medicine and tools.
The students participated in the tree plantation drive with great zeal and enthusiasm held later in the school compound. Each of the students were also provided with Saplings under the concept of ‘One Child One Plant’ announced by then Environment Minister M K Munshi, which were later taken for plantation at their respective parental houses.
BMC Shrishthal made the Saplings available from the Forest department-sponsored through Goa State Bio-Diversity Board.
Besides BMC Chairman Vinay Tubki, members Shirish Pai and Damodar Vasant Chari, PTA Chairman Ravi Velip, School teachers Salgaonkar, Ms Deepa, Sindhu Naik and all other teachers witnessed the function.
In the end, students took a pledge to spread the awareness for growing more trees saying little efforts can make a huge difference to the overall environment of Earth.
