PANAJI: A male body was found lodged in a gap of the New Mandovi Bridge’s pillar near Divja Circle around 1:10 PM on Monday. The discovery was made after firefighting services received a report of a floating body in the Mandovi River. Upon reaching the scene, authorities discovered the body wedged between the bridge’s pillar.
The deceased, believed to be a man in his early 40s, showed signs of decomposition, indicating that he may have died approximately four days ago. Alongside the body, a bag was found, suggesting that the individual may have been using the space to sleep regularly.
An investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of death and to identify the deceased. Authorities are exploring various possibilities, including the man’s potential connection to the area, and are examining whether foul play was involved.
