RACHOL: The body of an 82-year-old man who had been reported missing was found floating in a well near his residence at Prace de Rachol on Monday afternoon.
Police said they received information at 12.13 pm from Peter Monteiro, a resident of Prace de Rachol, stating that his father Joaozinho Monteiro (82), who had been missing since January 10, was seen floating in a well close to their house.
Police rushed to the spot and confirmed that the body of Joaozinho Monteiro was floating in the well. With the help of the Margao Fire Brigade, the body was retrieved from the water.
A missing complaint in this regard had earlier been registered at Maina Curtorim Police Station. Police conducted a scene of occurrence and inquest panchanama, and the body has been preserved at South Goa District Hospital (SGDH), Margao, for further medico-legal formalities.
