PANAJI: Bolero Boys, Navelim, emerged victorious in a nail-biting final to lift the 4th All Goa 5-a-side Football Cup, organised by St. Anthony Boys of Agalli, after defeating Wembley Boys, Fatorda, 7-6 in a tie-breaker at the Government Multipurpose School Ground, Borda. The match, played under floodlights, drew a large crowd as both teams battled to a 3-3 draw in regular time before Bolero Boys proved superior in the tie-breaker.
The prize distribution ceremony was graced by Mr. Digambar Kamat, PWD Minister, as chief guest, along with dignitaries including Damu G. Naik, BJP State President; Damodar Shirodkar, Chairperson MMC; Yogiraj Kamat, MMC councillors Milagrina Gomes, Sadanand Naik, Raju Naik, Sweta Lotlikar; Babita Naik, VCP Margao; Camilo Barreto; and Mahesh Amonkar. They also felicitated football personalities such as Clencio Pinto, Sebostiao Furtado, Agnelo Noronha (GFDC Coach), Milagres Soares, Gregory Dias, and Peter Fernandes.
Individual awards were presented to outstanding performers: Jesvon of Wembley Boys received the top scorer award, Jeet Gupta of Bolero Boys was named Best Player of the Finals, Ronaldo Pereira of Bolero Boys won the Highest Score of the Tournament, and Samson Pinto of St. Anthony Agalli was recognised as the Youngest Goalkeeper of the Tournament.
