New Delhi: A day after Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif acknowledged that India’s BrahMos missiles struck multiple targets inside Pakistan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the significant impact of the missile strikes, saying they had left Pakistan “sleepless.”
Speaking in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, during the launch of development projects worth nearly Rs 50,000 crore, PM Modi praised the Indian Armed Forces for their success in Operation Sindoor. He emphasized that Indian forces had destroyed terror camps deep inside Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, forcing the Pakistan Army to plead for an end to the conflict.
“We entered their camps and destroyed terror sites in Pakistan. Our Armed Forces showed such courage that the Pakistan Army ended up begging to stop the war,” Modi said. Referring specifically to the BrahMos missile, he added that it had caused the Pakistan Army “sleepless nights.”
Shehbaz Sharif had earlier admitted in Azerbaijan that the missile strikes, including those by the BrahMos, had caught Pakistan’s military off guard. He revealed that Pakistan had been preparing a retaliatory strike just before India’s missiles hit key strategic targets, such as the Nur Khan air base, on the early hours of May 10.
These strikes were part of Operation Sindoor, India’s retaliatory response to the drone and missile attacks launched by Pakistan on the night of May 7, which themselves followed India’s precise targeting of nine terrorist camps, including Lashkar-e-Taiba’s headquarters, inside Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
PM Modi’s remarks underline India’s strong military resolve and the effectiveness of its advanced missile capabilities in deterring threats from across the border.
