CALANGUTE: Calangute Police have registered an unnatural death (U.D.) case following the death of a 67-year-old British national at the Primary Health Centre (PHC), Candolim.
According to Calangute Police Station U.D. No. 08/2026 registered under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, police received a medical memo at around 2.56 p.m. from the Medical Officer of PHC Candolim informing about the death of Anthony Bernard Walsh, aged 67 years.
Police said the deceased was brought to the casualty by a 108 ambulance in a gasping condition, allegedly suffering from hypoglycaemia and hypotension. He was reported to be unresponsive and unconscious on arrival and was declared dead during treatment.
The guest house owner, Anil Candolkar, informed police that the deceased had not been eating properly for the past few days and was consuming alcohol. Further enquiry revealed that Walsh was a habitual alcoholic and often sustained injuries to his hands and legs after falling under the influence of alcohol.
During preliminary investigation, police stated that no foul play is suspected in the death. Further enquiry is in progress and is being conducted by PSI Rajaram Bagkar of Calangute Police Station.
