CALANGUTE: Calangute Police reported that a 63-year-old British national was brought dead to the Primary Health Centre (PHC), Candolim, in the early hours of December 15, 2025.
According to police, at around 1.43 am, Calangute Police Station received a call from the Medical Officer of PHC Candolim informing that Mr. Barry Mark Gerrard (63), a British national presently residing at Ruffles Beach Resort, Wadi, Candolim, Bardez, Goa, was brought dead to the health centre.
Police visited PHC Candolim and conducted an enquiry with the deceased’s brother, Mr. Paul Mattias Gerrard (67), also a British national, who is presently staying at the same resort. During the enquiry, it was revealed that the deceased had been suffering from emphysema (lung-related illness) for several years. On December 14, 2025, at around 6.00 pm, he was found lying unconscious in his room.
Police stated that no foul play is suspected in the incident. The Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), Panaji, has been requested to inform the concerned embassy. The brother of the deceased is presently in Goa.
An inquest panchanama has been conducted, and the dead body has been sent for preservation at the GMC morgue, Bambolim, for further formalities.
