MOPA: Mopa Airport Police have registered a case against a British national for allegedly attempting to smuggle an electronic cigarette through security checks at Manohar International Airport, Mopa, in violation of Indian law.
Police said the incident occurred on September 19, 2025, around 2.20 am, when CISF officer Preeti (L/SI, CISF Unit ASG) detected an e-cigarette worth ₹10,000 hidden in the upper-body undergarment of Claire Louise Dunn (43), resident of Wolverhampton, UK, during frisking at the International Security Hold Area.
The passenger was scheduled to travel to Doha by Qatar Airways flight QR 523 (seat 23E, STD 3.45 am).
As the possession of e-cigarettes is prohibited in India under the Prohibition of Electronic Cigarette Ordinance, 2019, Mopa Airport Police registered Crime No. 47/2025 under Sections 4(i), 5, 7 & 8 of the Act.
The accused was issued a notice under Section 35(3) of BNSS, and the case has been charge-sheeted (C/S No. 35/2025) before the JMFC, Pernem. Investigation was carried out by PSI Sagar Vazarkar.
