CANACONA: Bus driver suffered serious injuries as a mini-Bus (Mhaji Bus) and Tipper Truck collided at Karmalghat, blocking highway traffic for long hours Saturday morning.
According to sources, the Mhaji Bus bearing registration number GA01 U1887 coming from Margao was heading to Canacona, while the Eicher Truck bearing registration non. GA-09 U3634 coming from Canacona was heading towards Margao direction, when both the heavy vehicles collided at the foot of Karmalghat.
Bus driver has reportedly suffered grievous injuries and is immediately to SDGP in an 108 ambulance. According to reports No bus passengers had suffered any major injuries except for some hits due to the sudden jolt.
The Bus have suffered extensive damage to its front portion, badly mutilating creating a heap of steels p[particularly on driver side.
The mishap was reportedly happened at a slight turn at the foot of Karmalghat initially totally blocking the NH-66 highway traffic. Cuncolim police reached and and free flow of traffic on one-side even as a huge queue of vehicles assembled on either sides of the already narrow Karmalghat section.
Heavy vehicles could cross the road with great difficulties.
Momentarily traffic got diverted via Agonda-Khola MDR road, which was already suffering with with traffic snarls as the entire stretch from Agonda to Khola villages was taken for digging to lay underground electricity cable.
Women and children were the most who suffered due to the mishap at Karmalghat.
