SALIGAO: Saligao Police have registered an offence against a Bardez resident for allegedly threatening and attempting to extort money from a Guirim-based businessman over a business rivalry dispute.
According to police sources, the complaint was lodged by Ganesh Nagvekar, a resident of Sonar Villa, St. Anthony Waddo, Sonar Bhatt, Guirim, Bardez. In his complaint, Nagvekar stated that on January 17, 2026, he received a phone call at his residence during which the accused, identified as Peter D’Souza, a resident of Arpora-Nagao, Bardez, allegedly issued threats with dire consequences.
Police said the accused allegedly demanded Rs 50,000 from the complainant in connection with a business rivalry. The complainant further alleged that both he and his son were threatened over the phone and that the accused used abusive and filthy language during the conversation.
Based on the complaint, Saligao Police registered an offence on February 11, 2026, and initiated further investigation into the matter.
The investigation is being carried out by PSI Akshay Gaonkar of Saligao Police Station. Further inquiries are in progress.
