The State Cabinet today granted its approval for One-Time Settlement (OTS) scheme for the defaulting power consumers, with waiver on delay payment charges.
The decision has been taken to recover the pending arrears of Rs 320 crore.
Power Minister Nilesh Cabral said that under the scheme if the consumer pays up the entire principal amount, then he or she will get 100 per cent waiver in delay payment charges.
The delay payment charges will be waived off partial- varying from 20 percent to 80 percent, if the consumer opts for installment mode to clear the principal amount, he said.
Cabral said that the total of Rs 413 crore, including Rs 320 crore principal amount and Rs 92 crore delay payment charges are due to be recovered.
“But Rs 92 crore delay charges would be waived off,” he said.
He said that the scheme would be in force for one month from the date of issuing of notification.
