PANAJI: Cable operators have approached the High Court challenging an order issued by the Electricity Department, which mandates each operator to pay ₹30 lakh towards the use of electricity poles for laying cables.
In their plea, the operators have sought to set aside the department’s directive, calling the charge arbitrary and financially burdensome. The application was filed earlier this week, but no response has yet been submitted by the department.
The matter was heard briefly and has now been posted for further hearing on June 24. The court has not granted any interim relief at this stage.
