CURCHOREM: PWD Minister Nilesh Cabral, in his speech, appealed to all the officers to understand the DMF Objectives in detail so that the benefits/schemes associated with it could be given to the larger community residing in the mining areas.
PWD minister Nilesh Cabral was the chief guest at a programme held at Ravindra Bhavan Curchorem. He inaugurated the workshop on DMF rules and objectives, roles and responsibilities of BDOs and VP secretaries towards district mineral funds.
The workshop was organized by the Mineral Foundation of Goa ( PMU) in association with the Directorate of Mines.
Abir Hede, member secretary, dept of mines, explained that the district mineral foundation trust was instituted under the mines and minerals development and regulations Act 2015 to work for the interest and benefit of persons and areas affected by mining-related operations, and their main objectives of DMF is to implement various developmental and welfare projects/ programs in mining-affected areas that complement the existing ongoing schemes/projects of the state and central Government and to minimize/mitigate the adverse impacts during and after mining, on the environment, health and socio-economic of people in mining districts.
Parag Rangnekar, programme manager, said the Mineral Foundation of Goa is to ensure long term sustainable livelihoods for the affected people in mining areas.
A half-day workshop has been organized for the block development officers and the village panchayat secretaries to sensitize them to the DMF objectives, rules, roles and responsibilities at Ravindra Bhavan Curchorem.
