MORMUGAO: The Catholic Association of Goa (CAG) organised a brain storming session for its Executive members on 1st May.
The Brain Storming was organised at Pallotti Home, Chicalim , Mormugao and it began with the welcome address by CAG President Adv. Nick Collaco.
A status of the present condition of the Christian community in India was discussed and deliberated upon by the members present. Session was held under the presidentship of Adv. Nick Collaco.
A road map for the CAG was discussed and identified and the same will be put up to the next executive committee meeting for approval and implementation.
The session involved presentation of the activities aimed at eh youth which was presented by Mr. Joseph Rodrigues and Mr. Kenneth Lobo, CAG Youth Representative for South Goa.
The second speaker was Mr. Nelson Figueiredo, treasurer of CAG who fresh areas for intervention that CAG could explore.
Mr. Cyril A. Fernandes, Vice-President (south Goa) gave a PPT presentation on the proposed road map for Cag for the future. He proposed in his presentation new areas of activities and campaigns at parish and deanery levels for the lay persons. Some social events to attract young at school and parish level were also proposed.
The CAG members had invited prominent catholic leaders from the local community to guide them during the proceedings. Mr. Elias Vaz, President of the All-India Catholic Union (AICU), Dr. Mimi Menezes, Past founding President of CAG, Ex-IPS Mr. John Shilshi, Ex-IAS Mr Elvis Gomes, Ex-IRS Mr. John Cruz and Mr. Sean Palha from AICU.
Mr. Elias Vaz offered all help and guidance on behalf of the AICU to help the CAG increase its footprint in Goa with its activities.
Founder President of CAG Dr. Mimi Menezes welcomed the initiative of the brainstorming and urged the CAG to be more vocal and active. She requested CAG members to widen the scope of activities and offered her full co-operation towards the same.
Capt. Eddie Viegas moderated the entire 3-hour session. Ms. Barbara D’Mello summarised the proceedings of the day. Vice-President (North) Mr. Graciano Gomes offered a vote of thanks to the attendees.
CAG Commends Goa’s Chess prodigy Ethan Vaz.
In the midst of the Brain Storming session, The Catholic Association of Goa (CAG) appreciated the achievements of Goa’s new chess prodigy Master Ethan Vaz and offered a Special Commendation Certificate to him for his latest achievements at the Western Asia Youth Chess Championship 2025 (Under -16 Open) at Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
The Special Commendation Certificate was issued on behalf of CAG by its President Adv. Nick Collaco to Mr. Edwin Vaz, father of Ethan Vaz. Others present during the handing over ceremony were Dr. Mimi Menezes, Ex-IAS Mr. Elvis Gomes and Capt. Eddie Viegas.
Mr. Edwin Vaz, father of Ethan Vaz highlighted the challenges that young Ethan is undertaking and succeeding extremely well against all odds and sought continuous support from CAG and the Goan public at large for this chess sensation Ethan Vaz.
The Catholic Association of Goa has promised full support to the young chess prodigy and also offered to mobilise resources for his future.
CAG appealed to all catholic community besides other Goans from all walks of life, to come forward and extend their mite to the cause of Mast. Ethan Vaz so that he continuous to achieve higher glory for Goa and India in the Chess World.
