CALANGUTE:A spectacular Diwali Deepotsav was celebrated at the Shri Devi Shantadurga Temple in Calangute on Monday evening, drawing hundreds of devotees and villagers to witness the divine spectacle of over 5,000 traditional oil lamps illuminating the temple premises.
The event was jointly organised by Calangute United Boys in association with the Shri Devi Shantadurga Sansthan, Calangute. The programme began at 6:30 pm with the traditional lamp lighting ceremony, in which a special appeal was made to women devotees of Calangute to participate in the lighting of the lamps, preserving a long-standing cultural tradition.
Prasad Shirodkar, mentor of Calangute United Boys, and Pandurang Matkar, President of the Shantadurga Temple Committee, were present to oversee the celebrations.
Devotees offered prayers to Goddess Shantadurga amidst the glow of thousands of lamps, creating a serene and spiritually uplifting atmosphere. The event concluded with the distribution of Mahaprasad to all devotees.
The Deepotsav not only marked the auspicious beginning of the Diwali festival, but also showcased the unity and cultural devotion of the people of Calangute.
