CALANGUTE: In a decisive move following the rape of two minor girls at a guest house in Calangute, authorities in North Goa have sealed the establishment and initiated the process to cancel its operating license.
Superintendent of Police (North Goa), Rahul Gupta, confirmed the development and issued a stern warning to the hospitality industry.
“The hotel management and owners will not be spared if they provide accommodation to minors without being accompanied by family members or relatives. This is a direct violation of the Goa Children’s Act,” he said.
The owner of the guest house has already been arrested in connection with the incident.
Police have not ruled out further arrests as the investigation continues.
SP Gupta emphasized that any future violations involving minors would invite stringent legal action.
He urged all hospitality establishments in the state to adhere strictly to existing laws, particularly those protecting the rights and safety of children.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to enforcing the Goa Children’s Act and safeguarding vulnerable individuals, especially minors, across all tourist hubs in the state.
