CALANGUTE:
The Calangute police on Sunday conducted two raids one IPL betting and drugs raid.
In the continuing drive against narcotic drugs, the Calangute Police Team whilst patrolling apprehended one Sairaj Hadkonkar, aged 24 years, r/o Tivim, Mapusa in the early morning on Sunday for illegal possession of 173 grams Ganja all worth Rs 20,000.
The team was led by headed by PI Nolasco Raposo and comprising of PSI Jatin Potdar Police Constables Dinesh Morajkar, Suresh Naik, Sarvesh Mestri, Harshad Gaonkar and Shasank Sakhalkar.
This was also the 13th narcotic drugs case booked at Calangute Police Station for the current year till date.
PI Raposo said that the Goa Police is committed towards zero tolerance of drugs and our action against drugs and other illegalities will continue.
In another raid, the Calangute police acting on prior and specific information, Calangute Police Team comprising of PI Nolasco Raposo, PSI Vikas Deykar, Head Constable Vinod Naik, Police Constable Suresh Naik conducted a raid in a flat at Magnum Resorts, Candolim on Saturday night time and apprehended three accused persons namely 1) Bhanu P, aged 21 years r/o Hyderabad 2) Raju Rao aged 34 years r/o Hyderabad 3) Shahi Kiran aged 33 years r/o Hyderabad while involved in IPL betting during cricket match played between Rajasthan Royale and Royal Challengers, Bengalaru.
Cash amount of Rs 8,400, 3 mobile phones, 1 Laptop was seized by the police during the raid.
The accused persons were subsequently arrested in the criminal case registered at Calangute Police Station for contravening section 3 and 4 of the Goa Public Gambling Act.
The accused persons were subsequently released on bail after furnishing sureties to the tune of Rs 10,000/-.
Further investigation in both cases is conducted by PSI Vikas Deykar under the direction of PI Calangute Mr Nolasco Raposo and overall supervision of SDPO Porvorim Edwin Colaco and North Mr Utkrisht Prasoon.
