CALANGUTE: Swift action by Calangute Police led to the arrest of two men from Sangli, Maharashtra, in connection with a theft reported at Baga Beach earlier this month.
The case was registered on November 4, 2025, under Cr. No. 153/2025 U/s 303(2) BNS 2023, based on a complaint filed by Madhavi Namjibhai Patel, a resident of Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
The complainant reported that between 6:00 pm and 7:30 pm, her backpack was stolen at Baga Beach. The stolen bag contained mobile phones — an iPhone 14, Samsung Galaxy S25, and Samsung Galaxy A50s — along with her ID card, wallet with ₹5,000 cash, clothes, and a key of a rented bike, all valued at approximately ₹1.85 lakh.
Acting on technical leads, police traced the location of the stolen phones to Sangli, Maharashtra, and dispatched a team to the area.
The team apprehended Kishor Raju Kore (27) and Parshram Satish Bansode (25), both residents of Miraj, Sangli. Three stolen mobile phones were recovered from their possession.
The accused have been brought to Goa for further investigation. The case is being investigated under the supervision of PI Paresh Naik of Calangute Police Station, with overall supervision of SDPO Porvorim Vishwesh Karpe and SP North Rahul Gupta, IPS.
