KOLHAPUR: Calangute police have recovered 9 bikes worth Rs 12 lakh following the arrest of bike thieves. Police recovered three more bikes from Kolhapur today.
Goa Police had arrested vehicle thieves Sanjya Kalke and Saddam Jamadar, both residents of Kolhapur few days back. Five two-wheelers and one four-wheeler were earlier recovered from them following their arrest.
Calangute police had received a complaint last month from a rental vehicles owner that the accused had taken a two-wheeler and a car on rent at Baga-Calangute and never returned them back. The accused had provided fake identity cards at the time of hiring the vehicles.
Police put the mobile number provided by the accused on technical surveillance through which the identity of the accused was revealed.
The modus operandi of the accused was to take car and bikes on rent from Goa and change their colour and registration number in Kolhapur and dispose of the vehicles for a price.
