Chinchinim: Camron Brothers FC lifted the Our Lady of Fatima Cup 2025 with a hard-fought 1-0 win over DX Boys in the finals held on Tuesday at Baida, Chinchinim. The tournament, organized by the Our Lady of Fatima Sports and Cultural Club, coincided with the feast day celebrations and witnessed an enthusiastic turnout from the local community. The match was a closely contested affair, keeping the spectators on the edge of their seats. The decisive moment came in the 24th minute when Bradley Carvalho scored the lone goal of the match, securing victory for Camron Brothers FC.
The prize distribution ceremony was graced by Fr. Christopher Fernandes, Assistant Parish Priest of Our Lady of Hope Church, Chinchinim, who served as the chief guest. Several notable personalities were also present, including Shri Cruz Silva (MLA, Velim), Fr. Alex D’Souza (Parish Priest), Fr. Joseph Gama (Assistant Parish Priest), Fr. Victor Viegas (Church staff), Filipe Neri Rodrigues (former WRD Minister), Benjamin Silva (former MLA, Velim), Julio Fernandes (ZP member), Sabrina Dias (former ZP member), Frank Viegas (Sarpanch), Valentino Barreto (former Sarpanch), Franky Fernandes (social worker), Adv. Agnelo Furtado (President of the Communidade of Chinchinim), Mario Rebello (engineer), and Dulcina Pereira (retired teacher).
Prior to the final, the club also felicitated the village’s SCC toppers and local football players for their achievements. Individual awards were distributed as follows: Bradley Carvalho (Camron Brothers FC) received the First Corner Goal award, Sowell Fernandes (Camron Brothers FC) was named Best Striker, Godwin Simoes (Camron Brothers FC) won Best Goalkeeper, Crimson Fernandes (DX Boys) earned Best Defender, and Joel Barreto (DX Boys) was awarded Best Midfielder. The event concluded with celebration and appreciation for the spirit of sportsmanship and community bonding.
