New Delhi:
In a significant display of corporate social responsibility and spiritual service, the Adani Group, led by Gautam Adani, has partnered with the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) to launch the ‘Mahaprasad Seva’ initiative at the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj. This collaborative effort, which began on January 13 and will continue until February 26, aims to provide unlimited meals to devotees attending the sacred event.
The partnership between the Adani Group and ISKCON marks a substantial escalation in the scale of meal service, as ISKCON had previously been serving 10,000 meals daily. With the Adani Group’s financial support, ISKCON can now serve an unlimited number of meals. “When we started, we were managing 10,000 meals a day, but with the Adani Group’s partnership, we can now serve unlimited meals,” explained monk Sanak Sanatan Das of ISKCON.
The Mahaprasad Seva will cater to 50 lakh devotees, with meals prepared in two kitchens, one within and one outside the mela area. The distribution will take place at 40 different locations within the Maha Kumbh area, involving 2,500 volunteers. ISKCON’s extensive experience, including their efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic where they distributed meals to millions, ensures a highly organized and efficient operation. The organization boasts advanced equipment, such as a chapati machine capable of producing 10,000 chapatis in just one hour.
Gautam Adani met with Guru Prasad Swami, Chairman of ISKCON’s Governing Body Commission, to express his gratitude for the collaboration. Adani emphasized the spiritual significance of the Kumbh Mela, stating, “Kumbh is a sacred place of seva, where every devotee gets involved in the name of seva to God. It is my good fortune that we are starting the ‘Mahaprasad Seva’ for the devotees at the Maha Kumbh in collaboration with ISKCON.” He added that the initiative is blessed by Maa Annapurna, ensuring free food for lakhs of devotees.
Guru Prasad Swami praised the Adani Group’s commitment to social service, highlighting Gautam Adani’s humility and selfless service. “The Adani Group has always been a shining example of corporate responsibility and social service. What makes Gautam Adani ji outstanding is his humility — he never waits to be called but moves forward to serve selflessly,” Swami said.
In addition to the meal service, the Adani Group has also partnered with Gita Press to distribute one crore copies of “Aarti Sangraha,” a collection of devotional hymns, among the devotees. This initiative is part of the Sanatan Sahitya Seva and reflects the group’s broader commitment to supporting spiritual and cultural activities.
