Pernem: Pernem police arrested two Russian nationals for growing cannabis in their rented apartment at Gawdewada, Mandrem and selling it to buyers.
The police also seized canabis worth Rs 3.5 lakhs.
The two arrested were Aleksei Perevalov (age 31 years) and Aleksei Rebriev (age 41 years).
Police said they found that the Russian Nationals had fully started cannabis plantation in their flat and the suitable environment was created using tubelights, exhaust fans and other equipment in order to facilitate commercial plantation of the cannabis plant.
Five fully cultivated cannabis plants along with dry Ganja weighing 2.5 kg, all worth Rs. 3.5 lakhs and cash of Rs. 25,000 were seized during the raid.
Offence has also been registered against the owner of the house for allowing his premises for cultivation. The Russian nationals were staying in the premises since May 2020.
