CANACONA: Congress leaders from Canacona constituency launched a protest and awareness campaign for Samvidhan Rakshan (Constitution Protection) and Mission Against Vote-Chori at the Polem Checkpost. Party workers raised slogans of “Vote Chor, Gaddhi Chodd” while engaging with local voters to verify the accuracy of voter lists.
“Our Leader and Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, has exposed cases of vote-chori in Bihar and initiated a nationwide campaign for Samvidhan Rakshan. We fully support him and reiterate our commitment to protecting the Constitution,” said Congress leader Janardhan Bhandari, who led the campaign along with members of G.P.Y.C and Canacona Congress frontal organizations.
GPYC Vice President Vaishnav Pednekar emphasized, “We demand free and fair elections, completely free from voter fraud of any kind.” Canacona Block Mahila President Ursila Costa, Block Youth Congress President Manesh Naik Gaunkar, NSY President Harsh Desai, and several other party leaders and workers participated in the campaign.
As part of the initiative, Congress leaders went door-to-door in the Polem area, meeting voters and cross-checking names on the electoral rolls. They warned the public of attempts to manipulate voter lists by deleting legitimate entries or forging identities. “It’s crucial to identify such attempts early and take precautionary measures. Some unscrupulous elements exploit loopholes in the Election Commission system to deny constitutional rights, especially to voters not aligned with certain parties,” added Bhandari, Congress candidate from Canacona in the last assembly elections.
