CANACONA: Highlighting urgent local issues, a delegation from the Canacona Congress unit submitted a detailed list of demands to South Goa Member of Parliament Capt. Viriato Fernandes during a meeting held at the South Goa District Collectorate in Margao on Thursday.
The demand memorandum focused on key concerns affecting the Canacona constituency, including the inadequate healthcare infrastructure at the Canacona Community Health Centre. Particular stress was laid on the plight of dialysis patients, who reportedly face major difficulties due to the lack of proper treatment facilities and support systems.
In addition, the Congress team called for the provision of essential equipment, vessels, and infrastructure at the Talpona Coast to strengthen coastal security and support the traditional fishing community, which continues to face hardships due to neglect and inadequate support.
The delegation comprised Goa Pradesh Youth Congress State Vice President Vaishnav Pednekar, South Goa District Congress Committee General Secretary Gaspar Coutinho, Canacona Block Youth Congress President Manesh Dessai, tribal leader and former Khotigao Sarpanch Daya (Umesh) Gaonkar, among others.
The team urged MP Capt. Viriato Fernandes to take up the issues with relevant authorities at the state and central levels and ensure timely redressal in the interest of the people of Canacona.
