CANACONA: Canacona Municipal Councilor Shubham Komarpant has submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, pressing for special legislation to protect the houses and ancestral land of local residents in coastal Canacona.
Komarpant, who called on the Chief Minister at his Sankhali residence on Saturday morning, warned that native Goans’ land and homes are increasingly under threat. He cautioned that without protective laws, outside builders, resort owners, and land grabbers will continue to buy up local property, sidelining the interests of Goenkars.
He stressed that such practices are already widespread across Goa and need immediate legislative intervention to safeguard the rights of locals.
According to Komarpant, the Chief Minister assured him that the government will take appropriate measures to ensure that Goenkars’ ownership rights are not compromised.
