Canacona: The Canacona Lions Club launched its ambitious Hunger Eradication Week on Saturday with the distribution of food to labourers at Chaudi. Around 500 labourers gathered at the KTC Bus Stand, where they were served tea, juices, and biscuits. Canacona Lions President Pankaj Naik Gaunkar and Secretary Ulhas Phaldesai, along with senior Lions and Leo club members, actively participated in the initiative, assisting in the food distribution. The week-long programme will continue with fruits being distributed to patients at the Community Health Centre (CHC) on Sunday, along with lunch for students of Shri Damodar High School. Subsequent days will see lunch being provided for children and students at Mātā Jī Mandir on January 6, residents of Kān’yā Vasiti Ghar, Loliem on January 7, lunch at Mātā Jī Mandir, Canacona on January 8, Damodar Vidyalaya, Loliem on January 9, and a visit to an Old Age Home with grocery distribution on January 10. The programme will conclude on January 11 with lunch at Mātā Jī Mandir. The initiative highlights the Lions Club’s commitment to supporting underprivileged communities and promoting social welfare in Canacona.
