Canacona: The Canacona Municipal Council (CMC) on Wednesday carried out a site inspection around a 5-star hotel located at Rajbagh–Tarir following a formal complaint filed by CMC councillor Shubham Komarpant.
Komarpant has alleged that the hotel management has been harassing local taxi operators and frequently raising objections to vehicles parked or stationed near the hotel premises, leading to growing resentment among residents.
Speaking to the media after the inspection, Komarpant stated that several violations were observed during the visit. These include alleged illegal constructions, encroachment on municipal setback areas, unauthorized compound walls, and barbed wire fencing along the Rajbagh–Tarir road.
“The hotel itself is in complete violation of the law, yet it regularly targets local taxi operators and harasses residents. Today’s inspection confirms many of the illegalities I raised in my complaint,” Komarpant said.
The councillor urged the municipal authorities to take immediate action against the hotel for breaching building and municipal regulations, and for disturbing local harmony.
Further action from the municipal body is awaited.
