CANACONA – Noted Heart Specialist suggested Echo equipment to tap the rising heart ailments in Canacona
Over a hundred residents of Canacona got themselves examined at the Free Cardiac Checkup camp by Noted cardiologist Dr Millind Dessai on Monday.
Organised by Canacona Patrakar Sangh in association with Canacona Municipal Council, a medical team of Imperial Hospital,
Margao, led by leading Cardiologist Dr Millind Dessai, examined a record of 129 people in the half-day camp held at Asara-Ghar(Disaster Shelter Home) at Char-rasta.
A record of 129 ECGs was taken, and Diabetes and Blood Pressure were checked, with as many as 14 cases needing advanced tests such as Eco-11 and TMT-3 identified, while more than ten people were advised a change in diabetes medications.
Inaugurating the Camp, CMC Chairperson Ramakant Naikgaunkar, along with Councillors Simon Rebello, Sara Naik Desai, Narcisco Fernandes, Ganesh Madgavkar, Amita Pagi, Hemant Kumar Naikgaunkar, Social Worker/Centro Promoter de Instrucao President/Goa Cricket Association Vice-president Shamba Naik Dessai, and others the investigation and consultations at the camp will help to bring improvement in people’s health particularly Cardiac Care.
Dr Milind Dessai, stating Heart Care is of utmost importance, requested the government authorities concerned to facilitate Echo equipment in the Government hospital and offered to provide his services at least once a week to the people of Canacona. ‘People of Canacona had to take lots of pain to travel to Margao and elsewhere to conduct these cardiac Tests like Echo; if the government even in private partnership, I am ready to provide my services to the people of canacona.’ Dr Milind also suggested a Research Team dedicated exclusively to investigating the findings of many Renal Failure cases in Canacona.
Members of the Imperial Hospital Margao team, besides Dessai, were its CEO Bipin Khedekar, Br. Somnath Patil, Technicians Mahadev Jadav, Joyce Cardoso, Nurses Affiyana Shaikh and Shubangi Pagi.
Canacona Patrakar Sangh President welcomed, while Sanjay Komarpant compeered and proposed a vote of thanks at the brief function.
