CANACONA: In a one-off success, Canacona police rounded up two suspects for query, and have been placed under arrest for the daylight burglary in a house at Tamnem-Loliem last week.
It may be recalled that last week some unidentified men who came on a motorbike had broken into the house in broad daylight of one Pandurang Pagi, and decamped with Rs.40,000/- and Gold Ornaments, when the husband-wife duo were away for work and children had gone to school.
As part of the investigation, Canacona police on Monday have detained two suspects, and later arrested them both. Police obtained 3-days police custody from the court for interrogation. According to Canacona police both the arrested persons are residents of Seraulim in Salcette.
Canacona SDPO and Deputy Superintendent of Police Tikam Singh Verma said that the police have succeeded in recovering the cash and gold ornaments stolen by the thieves so far.
Incidentally, the theft came to light after the Son of Pandurang Pagi came back from Higher Secondary School, who found the house door open and ransacked informed his parents, and both the husband-wife rushed back home from work.
The neighbours who saw the thief coming on a motorcycle wearing a white helmet, thought the residents may have called some workmen to carry out some work after some sound began to come from the house. Based on the timing, Police verified CCTVC footage from the Poinguinim Bazaar, which reportedly led the police to identify and reach the suspects, informed a source
